The 2050 is an 8 bit processor. A popular application for the 2050 was as a Remote Job Entry workstation, supporting a card reader, line printer, console, and a comms link to a remote mainfame system.
The 2050 was launched in 1970 (initially as the MECS 2050 - the company was still called Marconi Elliott Computer Systems in 1970). 2050's were still being manufactured certainly up to the end of the 1970's, and some GEC 2050 systems were operating well into the 1980s.
